The Swansboro Baptist Church Garden is an effort to feed and beautify the Southside community.

The church runs a fantastic food pantry, to which Renew has gladly donated fresh fruits and veggies from our Jerusalem Connection site.

But what’s better than the food you grow yourself?

So we helped construct a garden for the church to support their food pantry and community. We’re working with the Church to create and maintain self-sustaining programs that will make use of the space.

With 20 raised beds, the garden will provide straight-from-the-soil goodness to many hungry people. And in the very near future, we’ll grow seedlings for the church garden at George Wythe High School and bring students to Swansboro for lessons in community advocacy and sustainable growing practices in residential neighborhoods.
